Position Title: Application Engineer
Report to: Local Engineering
Location: Zhenjiang
Function: Engineering

Overview:
•        Develop products for local & overseas customers which confirm to quality procedures, cost, timing and meet specifications as required by customers, while confirming to legal and safety related performance requirements.
Principle Accountabilities:
•        Note: although the tasks are similar, the Application Engineers and the Senior Application Engineer positions differ by the level of autonomy and the authority for tasks approval.
•        To support Marketing & Sales in convincing OEM’s to use our products, building customer intimacy: provide technical expertise in product application.
1)         Analyze and feedback on the customer technical expectation for the product he is in charge of.
2) Define the specifications with the customer.
•        Manage the integration in the vehicle of the proven Inteva products and standard solutions.
•        Prepare / draft RFQ technical files (analyze specifications, benchmark solutions and market analysis, prepare risk assessment).
•        Manage the Engineering activities for the PDP programs and interface the multifunctional program team:
1) Issue & control drawings through PLM, manage engineering change through PLM (respecting approval processes).
2) Constantly hold current level BOM in PLM.
3) Conduct system design reviews & prepare DFMEA, Final inspection plan.
4) Support localization /supplier development in fields of materials, technology, designing mechanisms & product application.
5) Manage validation plan.
6) Manage customer technical approval (locally or with COE support)
•        Work with test engineer to define and conduct design & product validation.
•        Network with Centre of expertise (and other design centers).
•        Manage the Engineering activities for the product modifications (TC, Localization, quality resolution) and interface the multifunction program team.
1) Design modifications in agreement with the COE
2) Manage simulation and validation of the changes
3) Manage BOM and drawing release
4) Manage customer technical approval (locally or with support of the COE)
•        Support / lead problem resolution using structures concern resolution methodology and support QRCM process:
1) Manage communication with internal and external customer (for validation issues)
2) Validate containments
3) Establish / prove root causes
4) Define and implement solutions.

Education/Requirements:
•        Bachelor degree in Mechanical Design or other Engineering Master’s degree in engineering or Technology would be an added advantage.
•        Work experience in Latch, Motor or electronics industrialization (Latch or Motor production and assembly, PCB SMT) & continuous improvement is commendable.
•        At least 8-10 years of relevant experience in automotive field preferably with OEM’s.
•        Application knowledge of motor like magnetic material/winding process and vehicle communication protocol like LIN/CAN.
•        Tool design exposure in Plastic injection moulding & Stamping tools would be an added advantage.
•        Application knowledge of materials like Steel & Plastics relevant to door systems would be an added advantage.
•        Basic testing of assembly products as per established standards with all our customers.
•        Broad knowledge and ability to understand mechanical drafting & drawing.
•        Basic quality assurance skills & Pro-active problem solving techniques.
•        Working knowledge of QS/IS & TS systems & procedures.
•        Working knowledge of systems like Pro –E, UG, Catia or Ideas would be an added advantage.
•        Should have good communication & leadership skills.
